This is the first of hopefully many update posts. Since releasing the game to the public on itch.io, I've made some minor changes:
- Updated the Sample Threats section. This is likely to go back to the drawing board a few times. Still, for now, instead of including a multitude of creatures and threats, I have decided to focus on samples from two (arguably three) different environments.
The Dangers of the Road and City includes bandits, rats, thieves, assassins, and guildmasters. Denizens of the Deep and Wild covers goblins, trolls, and wolves, along with variant options for goblins (because sometimes you want underground baddies). Finally, added Cultists with some cult generation tools, because the world of the Eschaton is literally swarming with religious fanatics.
Expect to see these creatures in some starter adventures I'm putting together, relatively soon.
Until then, you have tools for creating threats and encounters, along with guides for how to organize them into tiers. - Updated the rules for stacking resolve in combat. I realized that though you can stack resolve to get higher sums in dice results, this doesn't really translate to more damage as written. So I updated the language to support the fantasy of power attacks and big blows. Basically, when calculating wounds inflicted on threats, you add a wound for every additional resolve spent after the first for that attack. Coupled with properties for things like heavy weapons, I'm really hoping this will play into the fantasy of the Berserk-like giant weapon attacks.
